Saint Mary's Cathedral was built centuries ago in San Diablo. It was part of the California mission trail. The original building still stands today, but mass is only held there on High Holy Days. While renovations are being made, mass is held in the Bishop's Hall.

While many churches are built on holy ground, the altar, sanctuary--everything past the communion rail--is all constructed with mortar infused with the bones of the saints.
